Jimmy Philo

Form Follows Function

Jimmy, a Bell Woodshop member since 2015 is an architectural buff.  When he finally had the time to develop some hobbies, woodworking, particularly furniture making, had a natural appeal. Functional furniture with simple clean lines in a post-modern industrial framework is how he refers to his design aesthetic. Limited practical experience was easy to overcome at the Bell Wood Shop.  After the initial required new member workshop, Jimmy dove right in with his first piece.  A sofa table with a southwest theme - a carved cactus on the spine and cowboy boot supports made his first foray a hit.  New requests kept coming.  Next up, the great outdoors with an oversized patio set (sofa, loveseat, and a rolling BBQ station) with a poured-dyed concrete top. A dining nook table, side table, and custom guest beds with hand-carved accents are just a few of his latest projects.  Years into his new addiction Jimmy credits the Bell Wood shop members with their ingenious solutions and gracious teaching moments as the key to his love of woodworking.
